In late March, Siteground announced that customers can install free Let’s Encrypt Wildcard certificates for domain names hosted with them. A single Let’s Encrypt Wildcard SSL covers a primary domain and all of its subdomains. (With a standard SSL, you must install a separate domain certificate for each subdomain.) Using a SSL makes browsing more secure. Also, a site with HTTPS across all pages is favored by Google. Starting in July, Chrome will begin showing a warning that non-HTTPS sites are not secure.

If you do not have subdomains, the standard Let’s Encrypt certificate will automatically be installed by Siteground. Using the Let’s Encrypt Tool, Siteground customers can upgrade to the new Wildcard SSL directly in the cPanel.

Large organizations and e-commerce sites can purchase Premium SSLs that come with dynamic seals, extended validation options, and underwritten warranty of between $10,000 and $1,500,000. Siteground offers an option to upgrade to Premium EV and Wildcard SSL certificates through GlobalSign.
